Black Energy, Matters!

We like to think we understand the universe — after all, we’ve mapped planets, photographed galaxies, and even caught black holes on camera. But, have you ever wondered what the universe is actually made of?

Spoiler: mostly stuff we can’t see, touch, hear, smell, taste, or even gossip about.

From recent studies scientists say most of the universe is literally hidden from us. They estimate that about 95% of all physical reality is invisible to human senses and even most instruments. Yep. We live in a cosmic house where only 5% of the furniture is visible, and the rest keeps bumping into us quietly.

Our senses are amusingly limited.
Your eyes can only see light between 380 and 770 nanometers. Anything outside that? Nope!
Your ears hear from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Anything too high or low? You shouldn’t dare!

Meanwhile:
Radio waves: casually passing through walls like they own the place.
Deep-sea whales: gossiping across oceans using sounds we’ll never hear.
Neutrinos: trillions of tiny cosmic fellows running through your body every second, leaving zero evidence. Not even a “hi”.

Technology like Infrared cameras, Ultrasonic sensors helps a bit while exploring the unknown.

But the biggest mystery?
The universe is mainly run by dark matter and dark energy. These are cosmic equivalent of two unknown relatives controlling the whole big home, the universe around us.

Dark energy (68%): invisible force pushing the universe to expand faster.
Dark matter (27%): the secret scaffolding holding galaxies together. Without it, galaxies would fall apart just like a house of cards.
And the remaining 5%?
That’s all the galaxies, stars, planets, humans, animals, air, fair and everything else we can see and feel. So yes, we live in a tiny sensory bubble, surrounded by a gigantic cosmic mystery. Every time you look at the night sky, remember: You’re basically seeing the universe’s trailer, not the full movie.

Scientists can’t see dark matter or feel dark energy directly, but there are several strong, consistent pieces of evidence that prove something invisible with bigger frame is out there. Here are the clearest evidence you might consider:

1. Galaxy Rotation Curves (the biggest clue)
When astronomers measured how fast stars move around their galaxies, they found something weird! Stars far from the center move too fast. If only visible matter existed, galaxies should tear themselves apart. But they don’t. Something invisible is adding extra gravity and holding everything together.
This “extra gravity” = dark matter.

2. Gravitational Lensing (Einstein’s prediction used as evidence)
Gravity bends light. When we look at galaxy clusters, the bending is MUCH stronger than what visible matter can produce. It’s like:
The mass we see = small
The gravity we measure = HUGE
Conclusion: There’s lots of hidden arrangements bending the light.

3. Structure Formation of the Universe
Simulations show:
Without dark matter and energy → galaxies wouldn’t form
With dark matter and energy → galaxies and clusters form exactly as observed
So, dark matter acts as a gravitational skeleton the universe builds on.

BUT… Why can’t we “see” it?
Because dark matter doesn’t emit or absorb light, neither it interact with electromagnetic radiation. It only interacts through gravity.

In simple terms:
We don’t “see” dark matter. We see its effects and those effects are too big and too consistent to ignore.

It’s like seeing:
trees bending → we know there’s wind
planets orbiting → we know there’s gravity
galaxies holding together → we know there’s dark matter

Similarly, we cannot feel dark energy because it is a property of space itself, not a substance that interacts with our body or senses. It is a very low-density, uniform energy that fills all of space and can only be detected through its large-scale gravitational effect on the universe—the acceleration of its expansion.
Dark energy doesn’t behave like anything we know.

It could be:
a property of space itself,
a new kind of energy field,
a sign our understanding of gravity is incomplete,
or something beyond our imagination…

In One Funny Line:
Dark energy is the universe’s way of hitting the “zoom out” button… and then zooming out faster every second.

To conclude, the universe is basically 95% unseen stuff running the show while we stare at the glowing 5% like it’s everything.

Dark matter and dark energy? They are like cosmic glue we can’t see or feel but can’t live without. And that’s the fun part, the universe is still hiding its best secrets…..

Hi, I’m Soria! By profession, I’m a banker—yes, the person who can spot a mismatched digit faster than a speeding calculator. But secretly, I’m a science explorer who watches space documentaries like they’re spicy dramas and Googles random facts at 3 AM for fun. My daily routine includes balancing accounts, questioning the universe, and trying to understand the cosmic world around us . If you ever need someone who can discuss both interest rates and black holes in the same breath—I’m your person. Basically, I’m a banker with a curious mind who likes to question everything as a habit of a professional overthinker.
